dc.description.abstract This paper addresses efforts of different groups towards the adaptation of climate variability in dry lands of Same District Kilimanjaro Tanzania. Data were collected by using focus group discussions, desk review, in-depth interviews, questionnaires and document analysis. Results indicate that Same District has been facing extreme droughts, which affect agricultural activities leading food shortage, livestock and vegetation loss and water scarcity. Inadequate efforts has been in place for adaptation of threats and impacts of climate variability and implementation of renewable technology. The initiatives includes reforestation activities, formation of social-economic groups, government and non-government support for flood and drought impacts. Generally, this study recommended that, there should be an establishment and effective implementation of supporting policy for all strategies that are initiated by different groups towards adaptation of threats and impacts of climate variability in dry lands. en_US
